Helen Evans
Trustee

Helen has had a passion for the countries emerging from the former Soviet Union since the early 1990s. After graduating in German and Russian, Helen joined the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, working in Belarus between 1992 and 1994. There she taught English and collaborated with IFES to establish Christian Unions in various higher education institutions in Minsk. Upon returning to the UK, she took on the role of Project Manager for a Christian charity, where she helped to organise mission trips to Moldova and Central Asia.

Helen has been married to Ian, an electrical engineering consultant, for 27 years, and they have two grown-up children. They currently reside in Leatherhead in Surrey in the UK. After starting a family, Helen transitioned into teaching English as a foreign language. Since 2022 she has been able to use her language skills to assist Ukrainian refugees who migrated to Surrey, teaching them in different community locations. Presently, Helen teaches at an international school in London. She became a Christian during her teenage years and actively participates in Grace Church Leatherhead.

In her free time Helen enjoys running and volunteering at Parkruns on Saturday mornings. Additionally, she volunteers for the Mid-Surrey Community Fridges, where she gathers excess food from supermarkets to distribute to the local community. Helen is glad to contribute her skills, experience, and passion to support the incredible ministry of DHM in support of the people of Ukraine.
